Privacy policy

A plain-language outline of how this website handles visitor information.

Data minimisation

We collect only what is needed to operate and improve the website. There are no user accounts, and we do not collect profile data, build advertising profiles or sell visitor information.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. When it is allowed, it records the pages you view, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and general device and browser information, and it sets cookies in your browser. Google acts as our data processor for this. Advertising and personalisation signals are set to denied, because this site runs no advertising or ad-personalisation technology.

Your cookie choice

The Google Analytics script is never loaded until a choice exists. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland — and whenever we cannot determine your country — a banner asks first, and nothing loads until you answer. Elsewhere analytics is on by default. Either way you can change it at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google. Your choice is stored in your browser so you are not asked again.

Search and local preferences

Search terms are handled in the page URL. Your theme preference and your cookie choice are stored in your browser and are not used to identify you.

Hosting

The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, which processes every request in order to serve the page and to provide security and caching. This necessarily involves your IP address and basic request information.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated before adding accounts, newsletters, advertising or any other service that processes personal information.
